EdChoice announces board leadership changes, new board member
INDIANAPOLIS—EdChoice, a national nonprofit organization that promotes state-based educational choice programs, today announced Indiana businessman Fred Klipsch as Chair of its Board of Directors. Klipsch is the former owner of Indianapolis-based Klipsch Audio Technologies and has been an EdChoice board member since 2011.
Dr. Patrick Byrne, the founder of Overstock.com, has stepped down from his leadership position and from the board. Byrne had chaired the board since 2006, when EdChoice founder and Nobel laureate economist Milton Friedman passed away. EdChoice was established in 1996 as the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice.
“We would not be where we are today without the support and guidance of Patrick Byrne, and we thank him for more than a decade of service not just to our organization, but to every family that’s been helped by school choice,” said EdChoice President and CEO Robert Enlow. “We look forward to continuing to promote the intellectual legacy of Milton and Rose Friedman under Fred’s leadership.”
EdChoice also announced the addition of Devin Anderson to the Board. Anderson is the CEO and President of E&A Companies.
More than half a million K-12 students across the country currently use private school choice through 65 programs that operate in 29 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
EdChoice provides focused state investment; training and outreach services; research and thought leadership; and legal support to advocate for expanded education opportunities at the state level.
