EdChoice mourns passing of longtime board member Jerry Hume

Longtime EdChoice board member, businessman, and philanthropist William (Jerry) Hume passed away unexpectedly in late January. The former chairman of the board of international food service Basic American Inc. lived a life committed to advancing educational opportunity for students across the country. EdChoice President and CEO Robert Enlow issued the following statement on his passing.

“Jerry was one of the kindest, most positive influences I have ever had in my life. He was an incredible person who always shared his loved for his family and who was a wonderful board member who always had a fresh, new perspective on how to improve education in America. I was incredibly blessed to know Jerry and our organization tremendously benefited from his thinking. He will be missed tremendously.”
