Private School Choice
Alaska does not have a private school choice program. State lawmakers have considered school vouchers and education savings accounts in the past.
Public School Choice
Alaska allows some students to attend a traditional public schools they’re not zoned for, but the chosen school must be within their district. Their zoned school must be designated as “persistently dangerous.” Alaska allows magnet schools.
Charter Schools
Alaska does have some charter schools, which are publicly funded schools that are free from many of the regulations that restrict traditional public schools.
Homeschool
Parents have to meet certain laws in Alaska when homeschooling their children.
